Eye Spy.... Something I've just finished reading

I'm currently blessed (in one way) with an abundance of printed material reading time. Being between the move from Japan and the arrival of our little girl, I have a few months to fill with waiting for things to arrive from Japan, unpacking, setting up home and preparing for my new role as a mum. While there are a million things I'd like to get done, my physio has limited my sitting to 15 minute blocks (so little internet time), and I can't be on my feet for too long either. That leaves lying down. I'm trying to see it as a blessing, knowing that soon, I won't have that rest and reading time available.

Most of my reading of late has been filled with back issues of Mixtape that I bought from the fabulous Justine at the Stitches and Craft Show, and basically any pregnancy and parenting publication I can get my hands on.

I did make a trip to the local library recently and oh, what a joy that was. A room, a large room, a large room filled with books all in English! I was like a kid in a candy shop, not sure where to start, in the end overwhelmed by choice so I just grabbed something from one of the recently returned trolleys. A good grab it was, Tamara Walks on Water by Shifra Horn.

This book is set in Israel and bases its story around the lives of a Russian orphan immigrant and the granddaughter she raises. Food plays a strong, rich part in the book and prejudice of religion are always close by. It wasn't a book that I couldn't bare to put down, but rather, each chapter an entertaining read by themselves.

Thanks to A Glass Half Full for this week's theme and to Bug and Pop for hosting. I'm now off to gather a list of recommended reads for my next trip to the library. Nine weeks of free reading time left!

I did a lot of reading too during the last two months before delivery. I'd finish a book in three to four days and I have to make weekly trips to the library to fill my reading appetite. My favourites are travel literature, fantasy/magical, mothers' diaries, etc. Happy reading Melanie!

I'd never thought what it would be like not to have access to books printed in english! I can imagine what it would be like for you in the library. Enjoy your baby books but remember to trust your instincts too. I got so uptight as a result of reading too many books and confused because one would contradict another. Relax and enjoy your rest...take care.

I so understand, I felt exactly the same way when we came back from Japan. Books I don't need a dictionary for!! Books I can read the spines and titles, every single one!! Books I can read over lunch, without giving myself indigestion!! Enjoy your reading time ;)

Many people are buying Kindle these days (book reading gadget from Amazon) .. however, I've always enjoyed reading from a book, rather than reading online.

I have read something of shifra horn before but not this one. I don't remember which anymore :-]. I read again also. At the moment I am reading "Brida" by Paulo Coelho. I enjoy it very much.

PS I'm with 'little red hen' there, do take all the advice, be it from books or friends or relatives, with a pinch of salt! nobody has all the answers. my advice is, pick and choose the advice that suits you and your temperament and your life!

no matter what you do, somebody will probably have said 'do it' and somebody else 'don't', so don't stress and do what suits you!
