Eye Spy... Something Soothing

... the sound of waves, be they lapping on a shore or violently crashing... the smell and taste of the salty sea air... and preferably the sun on my bare shoulders and sand between my toes.

Eye Spy... Something I want to try

... to make resin jewellery...

Don't get me wrong, I am really pleased with the results of my glass pendants, what I'm not pleased with is having to get the glass made for me and the restrictions that I'm faced with glass. I figure with resin I can make it all myself, I can mould into different shapes, I can create my own moulds, I can embed, I can layer, I can colour, I can drill, I can pour into other things.

Ages ago, I bought some moulds, a book, some resin but just as I was ready to play with them, I discovered I was pregnant, so that all had to be put on hold until it was safe to work in the medium. Now, all I have to do is get DH to look after the little one, away from any fumes and I can start to experiment. Watch this space!

I was delighted when Cindy asked me to come up with next week's Eye Spy theme. I tossed around a few ideas, but one really stuck. One that I'm really interested in people's responses. So, next week's theme is;

Eye Spy... Something red

Red... my favourite colour. Red... the colour of celebration and happiness in Japan. Red... the colour of my engagement ring and my wedding dress. Red... the colour I think of when I remember Kyoto.

Eye Spy... A Morning Ritual

The self-financed maternity leave, about to have the first baby version....

I felt like I needed to specify that as my mornings at the moment are definitely not like they were when I was working, and certainly not what they'll be like in a couple of months. For now, they are lovely, self-indulgent and lazy.

I first wake up anytime between 4.45 and 6am to say goodbye to and get a kiss from DH as he leaves for work. After a broken night's sleep, I stretch out and take over the whole bed and it's in the next few hours that I get my best quality dozing done.

I let my body wake up naturally anytime between 8 and 9.30am. Breakfast is almost always a banana, a glass of diluted apple and pear juice and either toast or cereal while I check my email. Sometimes I'll sit on the back deck and read a magazine.

For the next hour, I potter around the house and do a little housework while I wait for breakfast to settle. If DH is home from his morning clients, I take the car and go to the pool. As I enter the warm hydrotherapy pool, I sigh with relief as the baby bump weight is taken off my spine. While walking through the water and doing exercises prescribed by my physio (no actual swimming for the rest of the pregnancy as I aggravated an old martial arts injury) I watch the baby swimming lessons. I smile and relax and hope that by the end of the year, that they will become part of my morning ritual.

Feeling relaxed and refreshed, I come home to shower and start my day. Knowing that life is going to dramatically change soon, I'm enjoying the peace and quiet.

Eye Spy... A Karaoke Song

Not a great singer, and without a great memory for lyrics, there is one song that I sing, around the house, in the car, at karaoke that always lifts my spirits. An oldie, but a goodie.

Joy to the world by Three Dog Night.

It was one such night in a karaoke bar with friends that I finally understood a long time lost in translation moment about a cow frog.

On a more crafty note, I have a few more pieces ready for the market in a couple of weeks.

Some kimono button rings and hair slides. While I'm still waiting for my sewing machine to arrive from Japan, tomorrow I'll be getting out my mother's spare machine that I have on loan to work on some bags, coin purses and finish the kimono bubble cards.

I'm a late joiner, but an eager joiner none-the-less of Cindy from Bug and Pop's Eye Spy.

For eye candy, I recently stumbled upon Mod Kid. Her fabrics are scrumptious with lots of rich colours, her girls gorgeous and patterns super cute.

What had me hooked and begging for more, was this pattern.
