Origami = Folding paper
Origomu = Folding plastic - "A movement that transforms the simple act of recycling plastic materials into a form of creative expression".
Origomu is an initiative by New York based designer Titania Pages. "Every year, thousands of plastic six-pack rings threaten the lives of shore birds and marine animals harming our environment." She asks you to "join the movement and learn how to transfer waste into beautiful artwear".
Entries into the contest are due before Jan 31st. For more information and to see more amazing artworks, visit Origomu.

That last piece is stunning!
I did a project with the year 7's making wearable art from recycled and repurposed materials - It was fun. At about the same time I was crocheting baskets from plastic shopping bags as a part of a sustainability and recycling theme I was doing with my year 3 kids. The other staff thought they were great but couldn't figure out what the materials were. It was great to see the look on their faces when they found out what they were made of. I love seeing stuff that would otherwise be considered rubbish being transformed into something beautiful.
I reckon after a few beers we could all get a bit creative ;-)
I didn't think they packaged beers like that anymore?? I have also been looking into crocheting plastic bags to use as planters. There are some great recycling ideas out there :-)
