Dear Baby

Dear Baby

I've loved having you in my belly for the last nine months, right from the first moment I suspected you were in there. It's been truly amazing feeling you grow, feeling my body change to help you grow and then feeling you move for the first time. The first time we got to see you move on the ultrasound I cried and daddy skipped in the car park (when you meet him, you'll realise what a funny sight that was). As you've become bigger and stronger, I've loved knowing when you were awake and asleep, the way you've reacted to my voice, my laughs and cries. You've made me smile the way the way you'll push my arm off if I lean it on my belly - on "your space" for too long, the way you appear to dance to my silly singing when we're in the bath. The day I found out you were a girl I cried, cried because I was so happy. I would have been just as happy if you were a boy, but I loved feeling closer to you, knowing more about you.

But now you're all grown up and it's time to come out. I can feel that you're getting cramped and having trouble finding space for your growing limbs. If you come out, you'll have so much more room to move and grow! I know it's warm and cosy in there, but I promise to keep you warm and safe when you come out into the world. In there you can hear my voice and my heartbeat, but when you come out, I'll keep you close so you'll hear them out here too.

The world out here is exciting. There are so many different things to see, touch, smell, taste and hear. I can't wait to help you explore this world and for you to find your own special place in it. Your daddy and I are very excited about meeting you, seeing what you look like, watching your personality develop, wondering what things you'll like and dislike.

I've loved having you in my belly, but now, I can't wait to have you in my arms. Baby please come out soon.

Love Mummy

Very sweet. I hope this tempts her to make an appearance very soon. Wouldn't it be funny if you went into labour right now? Do you think you should use some reverse psychology on her? Isn't that how parents get their children to do what they want?

Yup - I know that feeling. An experienced mother told me that you feel the same again in about 18 years - "Time to move out, kiddo...".

We used to say to our unborn boy, "If you want to stretch you'll have to come out!" He still took his sweet time though.

It's amazing to know that within 24 hours you could be holding your baby in your arms. I hope you will be!

What a sweet letter. I am sure it will entice her out. I know how you feel. Both my bubs were overdue and it's very hard to be patient when you just want to meet them now. Fingers crossed it's not too much longer.

Oooh Melanie, how exciting! Before long you'll be meeting your brand new little girl.

It was great to see you last Saturday. I had thought you might have had your baby by now but she must be well and truly comfortable in her warm little nest...it is winter after all!

Good luck and see you soon.

Samantha

Tears pouring down my face. I remember that feeling...arms aching to hold the little person you are already in love with. I'm saying a little prayer that she is already in your arms. Lisa. x

Oh no you made me cry again! I sobbed last night much to (almost 18 year old) bantam boy when he sat on my lap (squashing me greatly!) and I was alarmed at how quickly the journey from exactly where you are now to the point I am at when he is talking of leaving home for an adventure around australia.

This is such a sweet letter! Squirrel was 8 days overdue. My mom was in Tokyo to help me out once she was born and so we were just WAITING. On day 7 I woke up to find an eviction notice taped to our bedroom door that my mom had written ordering Squirrel to leave the premises or she would have the Sheriff come to escort her out. :-)
