I've been having so much fun playing with designs today. Of course I SHOULD have been photographing stock during the daylight hours, but instead started playing with ideas for the banner.
I started out by flicking through my pile of kimono and Japanese design books....Then started out with this sketch that I scanned.... The plan was to make a series of them, all nesting dolls with the last one opening, hence the line in the middle....
With the aid of photoshop, she soon looked like this... as a rough sketch, I was pretty happy so far..... But then once I put her into the banner dimensions... she looked rather lost..... so that was all scrapped (well not totally, I will go back and work on her at a later time)...And for now, my banner looks like this... what do you think?

Gorgeous!
Cute, cute :)
I love it! You must be a photoshop whizz!
Love the little nesting doll. She looks great in the banner, though as you said, she does get a little lost. Have you tried the name 'Kimono Reincarnate' in one line and a little bigger perhaps? Of course the two line layout may be preferred if it is part of your logo, but it might be worth a try.
Maybe then you could add another doll also... Though it is nice to have a bit of space too. Just an idea!
Can't wait to see your etsy store.
I love your Japenede Babushka doll!
I like it a lot, both the flowers and the doll. How did you get the background to fade out like that next to the doll? It's agreat effect!
I think your banner looks great. And I agree, the flowers one does look more balanced than the doll one. But boy is that doll cute!!!!!
It's beautiful, Melanie! I love the lettering and the little kimono doll... but the flowers do match better with the rest of the banner! Nice job :)
I love both your banners, I hope you go back and get her to be unlost casue I really like the first one....
Cheers
