I'm Off To Find and Keep

I don't do that many markets these days so am super excited to be at not one, but two Finders Keepers in the next two months!

This weekend I'll be in Melbourne...

... and next month, in Brisbane.

Both markets in are in gorgeous spaces and I'll be surrounded by talented designers from all around Australia.  What's not to love about that?

How My Calendar is Looking...

Next weekend...

It's going to be a big one for me...

On Saturday, I'm truly honoured to be a part of the GoMA Christmas market...

I then head straight for the airport to fly to Melbourne to have a stall at Markit the next day.

Two markets in two states in two days!  How exciting!

Family Outing

I'm very excited as this weekend the new members of my Origami family are making their market debut.  There are some wise owls, some sweet hummingbirds and bunnies,  a cat that loves to snuggle up and a cheeky little fox all waiting to find new homes.

They will of course be joined by the older member of the family, my origami cranes.

All of the brooches have been laser cut in sustainable-growth bamboo, then hand sanded and  hand coloured.

We'll be at the BrisStyle Twilight Market tomorrow night, the special event Fashion Week Young Designers Market on Saturday and Saturday night and then some will be going online next week.

If you're around, please pop by and say hi.

Looking for Me?

If you're looking for me today, I'm over here.

If you're looking for me tonight, I'll be here under the stars and Christmas lights (and the weather is looking lovely).

If you're looking for me tomorrow, I'll be here with some other very cool cats (we have wet weather options so are on rain, shine or thunderstorm).

If you're looking for me on Sunday, I'll be back here for the last Boutique of the year (and bring your umbrella if need be, we'll still be there).

If you're looking for me on Monday, I'll most likely be in bed catching up on cuddles with my little one.

Where will we find you this weekend?

The Weekend in Brief

It was a big market weekend last weekend.

BrisStyle's Eco market on Saturday had a great vibe, excitement about all the gorgeous, kind-to-the-earth pieces that were on offer.

Many kimonos and pieces of fabric found new loving homes.

This absolutely adorable owl, awake and wise on one side and sleepy on the other, by Nan's Garden, made it home with me. While I bought it for the little one, it's so lovely and squishy and its bamboo fleece is so super soft I keep stealing it from her for a cuddle.

I also came home with a stunning hand-felted scarf for myself from the delightful so very stylish Sandrine. Photo to come later when I'm feeling a little more photogenic...

Then bright and early on Sunday morning it was time for the Boutique Markets at Portside. Another great day, and this one I tried out a new stall layout. There's still a bit more tweaking to go, but I think it's getting there.

But mostly, it was a great weekend with loads of friendly people to chat to. Thanks to all that came by to say hi!

Weekend Wrap-up on a Wednesday

You know you're behind on your blogging when it's late Wednesday night before you blog about the previous Saturday...

Saturday found us at another fabulous BrisStyle BIDM Market down at St Augustine's Church. While Brisbane was enjoying a gorgeous sunny winter day outside, I was enjoying the cosiness inside the hall. My table continues to feel like a work in progress, but it is slowly coming together. And don't you just love the rich red stage curtain in the background, it reminds me of my old tutu wearing days...

A couple of new additions this time, a new display tree and some kimono fabric and resin hair-slides.

As well as lots of friendly customer faces to brighten the day, there were many a cheery BrisStylette friend to talk to and their wares to be tempted by. Just a few of my fellow indoor-mates (apologies for the small images)...

The next BrisStyle market coming up is the Indie Eco market on July 10th, where I will be selling a large number of kimonos and kimono fabric as well as some of my handcrafted pieces.

For more Market Wrap-ups, visit the BrisStyle blog.

Back in Town and Back to Work

This afternoon, our little family arrived back from a truly magical few days away in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. It was filled with breathtaking views, scrumptious food and long sleeps, all of which I'll blog about next week.

We hit the ground running when we got back, with a few busy days ahead of us.

This afternoon I dropped into Kazuyo's Collection and restocked my pendants and rings in the store.

Tonight I'll be putting some final stitches into some more kimono cranes for tomorrow's Mother and Child market.
And then on Sunday, my first ever Mother's Day as a mum, I'll be at the Boutique Market (I've requested my Mother's Day spoiling to happen on Monday instead...).

In celebration of Mother's Day, I have two kimono obi bags (my last two until the little one lets me back at the sewing machine) for half price, a few of my popular kimono button rings and hairslides are back as well as my usual kimono eye candy.

If you're in town, drop by and say "hi" and to all the mum's out there, I wish you a very happy Mother's Day.

My Creative Space

The pre-market panic continues over in the Augustin household. I had a wonderful and successful day at the BIDM last Saturday (Yah!), but that means that I have needed to make more stock for the three (yes you read write, this crazy woman has booked herself in for not one, not two, but three) markets this weekend.

Much of the activity however has been only going on in my head, but I have managed...

... a couple more make up pouches...

... and a number of reversible kimono wrist bags... I have so much fun combining the fabrics so that with a quick flick, these bags look like...

... this!

More to be made tonight and tomorrow morning.
For more creative spaces, and the last of them for the year, head over to Kootoyoo.

If you're local... those three markets are:

Fri 11th - Boutique Twilight Market, Porstide, 5pm - 9pm

Sat 12th - Blackwood Street Christmas Market, Mitchelton, 4pm - 9pm

Sun 13th - Boutique Market, Portside, 8am - 3pm

My Creative Space

Ahhh... if you look at this photo, you may believe that my creative space is not currently total and utter chaos.

... but it is. My creative efforts are rather unfocused at the moment as I continue to be undecided about what stock to make for markets next month. I don't have time to make everything on my ideas list, so instead, I pop from one project to another, hoping that I'll come to a decision soon. There are coin purses with frames, purses and pouches with zips, reversible kimono wrist bags and padded ipod cosies, just to name a few before I really embarrass myself.

At least I have a decent amount of pendants ready to go.

While I can't tell you yet exactly what will be there yet, but I can tell you there will be lots of vintage kimono fabric goodness and I can tell you the markets I'll be doing...

Dec 2nd - 12th(ish) - kimonos and work on sale at Kazuyo's Collection. The address has moved a few doors up and is now at 98 Latrobe Tce, Paddington.

Dec 5th - BrisStyle Indie Designers Market, St Augustine's Church, Racecourse Road, Hamilton

Dec 11th - Boutique Twilight Market, Portside, 5pm - 9pm

Dec 12th - Blackwood Street Market, Mitchelton, 4pm - 9pm

Dec 13th- Boutique Market, Portside

Recently, my creative space has spread out even further and now invades DH's hospital room. I joke to him that he thought he could escape my creative mess, but alas, he can't. Then the other night I looked up from the kimono I was carefully taking apart and saw him smiling at me. I asked him why, his reply?

"Watching you do that makes me feel happy and like I'm home."

**Ooops... forgot to say, if you want to check out more spaces, drop by Kootoyoo.
