Today's Inspiration
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

Oh that's beautiful! And it sums up how I feel just perfectly
During choir warmup sometimes we sing this song to a poem by Ogden Nash - "I think that I shall never see a billboard lovely as a tree. Perhaps, unless the billboards fall, I'll never see a tree at all." It's funny, but yet very, very sad.
I love that poem :-) I liked the bonsai picture as well, do you have any bonsai?? I have a few on the front porch right where I take off my shoes to remind me to water the poor wee things....so far they are all surviving which is a good thing for someone with a black thumb like me. It is such a lovely artform :-)
I love the image conjured by the line 'A tree that in summer may wear a nest of robins in her hair'.
That dress in the previous post is divine unfortunately my days of figure hugging dresses have faded! :(
