Can I ask for your advice...?

I'm starting to take the plunge and advertise in a couple of magazines.  You would think that I would have actually put more stuff in my store first but maybe these ads will motivate me.

The first magazine, Yen,  has a lot of young, fresh with a bit of fun fashion in it.  I'm trying to decide between these two photos...

The second one is an eco fashion magazine, Peppermint.  For this one, I want some pieces from my "Eco range" - and my vintage kimono bamboo teapots have been the most popular to date.  Again though, I can't decide which photo to use...

Any thoughts?

Why don't you do a collage of photos, similar style to what you are showing? That way they can see a variety of your work. x

I agree with Thea. If that isn't an option though, from the first pair I would choose the one on the left. The one on the right is kind of cute, but the one on the left uses stronger colours and is more eye-catching. For the bottom set, I would go for the one on the bottom left. That is the one that catches my eye.

Is it a single ad or a group of ads (like what madeit does in frankie).
I think either for the top ones, the one of the left the colours stand out, but the fox behind the tree is super cute and makes me what to look at ur shop.
the bottom group, bottom left or top right. I think the back ground ditracts.

I like the first shot on the left with the green leaves and the bottom right w/the tea pot.

a collage would be awesome Mel, but I agree - if it's not an option the fox is very intriguing and with the teapots I like the set of three or the bottom left ...

exciting for you!!!

I agree that of the pendants at the top the one on the left pops better (but the fox is super cute!)

For the teapots I like the one on the bottom right, although the three together are also gorgeous.

Good luck!!

The first set, the one on the right. And the second set, the one bottom right. They are all good though, so whatever you decide would be great. Good luck!

Thanks everyone! It's been amazing to get such generous feedback so quickly!

Unfortunately the ad will be too small for a collage and everyone's advice is really helping me choose!

I prefer in the first, the second pictures and, for Peppermint, the last picture if you cannot use the collage!

They are all lovely! I agree with the first one for the first add and either of the bottom 2 in the second add. The teapots are really lovely!

If a collage is out, I would choose the tree on the left with the bird. When looking at a magazine, you want something that catches the eye, and whilst the right one is cute, the coloured one is more eyecatching.

On the teapot I would choose bottom right. Again, it is more about what catches the eye than the amount and that photo is a very pretty display and well taken.

Hope that helps! Best of luck with your endeavours.

My fav is the birdie in the tree. Definitely stands out. I prefer the top left photo but with the bottom left teapot IYKWIM?

I really really hope it motivates you to put some in your shop!

1st photo - I like the tree with the wolf. It looks fun and cute!
2nd photo - I prefer the top left. Rule of third. My eyes lead me to the teapot. Hope it helps. ^_^

For Yen, the one on the left, with the most color, it´s easier to spot.
For Peppermint, maybe the last one, although they are all really good.
Good luck!

I like the first tree with the blue bird on it, cuz it catches the eye more, more colorful. When you have to make a big statement in a tiny ad, (I use to have a rubber stamp biz that I had to do ads for), you go for what is colorful and catches the eye.
For the teapots I like the first one best. I hope this helps.
As for the magazine, I'm not familar with either, but I looked at their sites, and tended to like the second one better, Peppermint.

I prefer the photo on the right for the first ad, it seems crisper, and the one on the bottom right (pictured with the tea cup) for the second.
BTW, congrats on taking this leap!

Love the fox pendant and the bottom right for the tea pot...I have to submit one for peppermint too and Need to do my work too x

For the first pic the one on the left, as the colours stand out more.

For the teapot either the top left or bottom right. I quite like the use of crockery in the pics

Hey, so much advice. I like the colourful photo on the left for the first one and the one on the bottom right for the second one. I'll keep an eye out for the magazines too. Your work is just beautiful!

Congrats! You are going really well with your work.
I like the one with the wolf because he is looking out from behind the tree and engaging the viewer- almost like he is looking out at you. With the second set I like the single one on the bottom left because of the contrast of clear colours- it grabbed my attention most strongly.
good luck deciding, I didn't read all the comments but I read a couple and stopped because they had different ideas, I didn't want to be influenced by them- I'm going to read them now and see what people thought.

first one was immediately drawn to the one on the right because it seems a bit quirkier...somehow think the other with more colour would stand out better though.

second (so glad to hear of you and peppermint getting together - two of my favourites!) i'd go with the top left probably...depends a bit on the format and where in the magazine but think it is a little more interesting than the plain backgrounds and more 'punchy' colours than the other similar one. second choice would be top right.

hope all these opinions help - good luck with decisions!

just read everyone else and it seems like people are keen on the bottom right for peppermint...for me the pink and red don't work so well together (and i'm not opposed to them on principle!) and the composition too. might agree with lauren about trying the top left one with the bottom left teapot actually.

Hi Melanie, It was great meeting you on Saturday! I love the wolf necklace - makes me think of Little Red Riding Hood ... I could totally see a photo shoot based around that! Glamorous girl in red hood, with a little charm to ward away the wolf ...

xx

My eye was drawn to the image with the bird in the tree because of the colour, and the top left photo of the teapot. Love your work!
