Where does one start?

Should one start with the ugly, messy storage shelves, the boxes full of packaging on the floor or the bags of fabric waiting to be sorted into packs?

Or maybe with the clutter on the work desk, the stock under the table, or the mess beside the table so that one cannot reach anything on the bookshelf? How about starting with the almost blank, and certainly colourless wall...

Or maybe the clutter on the computer/sewing table, or maybe the paperwork underneath...

One could start by tidying the fabric cupboards...

Or by sorting the bookshelf.

Just thinking about it makes me tired. I think instead, I'll go to bed.

*** And I think I should add that these photos were taken after the tidy-up began...

Oh, I know what that feels like... but maybe start with something that is going to stay tidy the longest and with the minimum of fuss (bookshelves?)

Ah the hazards of having a creative mind! I'm familiar with this!

I am so happy that there are other people in the world like me. I started my cleanup as a resolution for the New Year...........only trouble is I keep finding things that side track me into making bigger messes.

Which wall are you going to knock out? I have a room like this too, nine lives packed into one space....I pray you get out alive.....I say 72 hours you'll have it licked! Downside: you won't want to touch it for a month...

ah - I think every crafter's room is like this at some point. creativity is just messy. Husband and I just got around out straightening our room out and adding storage. It's still messy but better.

I'll be writing a post soon on the blog

I don't feel so bad about my mess now. I have thrown out so much over this break but things keep reverting to their natural (untidy) state. Just concentrate on one room. Otherwise, it will overwhelm you.

Whew! For a moment there I thought someone had snuck into my house and taken some pics. Don't worry - we are all in the same boat and one day it will all be ship-shape. But will we be able to find everything once it has its own place?

oh my!! I can hear your pain
I have to say, I always find the best way is to start on one side of the door and work my way round the room in baby steps....

.... and maybe a trip to the shops (ikea) in between

It must be the season for it! Us pisces are ones to put things off but then when we sort we SORT !!! I have been doing major decluttering and I have run out of puff now! It feels good to get things done though-good luck!

I feel your pain, although I think I could give you a run for your money....my mess has encroached into the rest of the unit, and also my mum's place! At least yours is contained in the one room :) I need Oprah to come and give my crafting space a makeover...

I would love to come and help you! I know there's a name for people like me and it's not very nice. But you could do the creating and I could keep things excessively neat and orderly!

haha! The going to bed option sounds like the one I would have chosen too!

Thanks for your interest in joining Shadow Shot Sunday & thanks for letting me know about the broken link. Somebody else emailed me about it as well, so I at least now know people actually read the waffle contained in that link (or try to anyway ;). I fixed it & all is good now.

Oh HONEY NO!!!

Jump right in! I did and it took two weeks but worth every bit!

I can not be creative with to much mess! A little is good for the soul but you need to dig in get it done and you will feel amazing!!! I have about 10 (or a hundred) projects on the run at once but I have to have some mind space!

I 'feel your pain' Melanie. There has to be a good sense of cold ruthlessness in doing a big clean out if you aren't putting it all behind cupboard doors. I can rarely get detached enough to do so myself :(

Inspire me!
