The Shave, the Full Shave and Nothing but the Shave

It's done. It's decided. It's locked in. On March 12th I'm shaving off all my hair to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.

When my husband was diagnosed with cancer, a rather rare form of lymphoma, in November last year, it was a shock to say the very least. I had no idea what to expect, what my role of carer was to be and how on earth I was going to manage it all with a new baby. Right from the start the Leukaemia Foundation stepped in. They offered caring advice and support, explained the treatment in much more detail that his doctor had time to do and were instantly like a new friend at our sides, one that I knew I could turn to at anytime. They continue to be there for us and have brightened up some very dark days. Through his treatment we continue to meet more people that have been helped by the Foundation in many ways including access to financial support and with accommodation for the families patients and their families.

So this year, I'm showing my passion for this cause and helping raise money by shaving off all my hair (down to a number two blade).

If you'd like to help and sponsor me, please click here to go to my sponsorship page. There is also a link to my sponsorship page on the side bar.

And lastly, thank you to everyone for all their kind words and support when I was trying to decide if I was brave enough to do this. And remember, if you see a scary bald woman who looks like she just escaped from prison around Brisbane in a couple of months, don't worry, it might just be me.

You're awesome!! Good luck & all the best for your husband & child. My children want to do the colour option. Would you consider a raffle too, to raise extra funds, i'd happily donate some goodies. I'm a fundraising coordinator for school & raffles are pure profit & generate gazillions. Love Posie

What a brave and terrific thing to do - I'll be popping over right now to add my sponsorship. As someone who used to get around with a mostly number 2 shave just for the fun of it, I can tell you it is actually quite liberating to be without loads of hair. All the very best, XXX Bec

Good on you! I shaved it all off a year ago to fund raise for Cancer awareness and it was amazing to have a clean head. Very liberating and felt nice to know it was to spread awareness and raise money too.
May your family be blessed with beautiful moments and lots of laughter. x

Good on you Mel!!! :-) It is such a wonderful cause and you are very brave to do something so drastic in support and to raise money. A friend of mine went the shave for a cure about 6 years ago and she had long, think curls. She looked very different, but hair grows fairly fast so you will have a funky short do in no time at all. Good luck!

Well done love, and you won't be alone. I expect to be in Brisbane that week, so book me in for the shave too (as early in the morning as possible). I'm asking my Australian friends to sponsor you with their Australian dollars and I'll register for the NZ Leukemia Foundation's shave for any non-Australian sponsorship for me.
