Decisions

I'm not sure if other people have this problem... There are times when my heart races before cutting into a fabric. I worry that I'm unworthy to a gorgeous piece. The fabric may be one I have little of, one that I've been saving or one that I splurged on, or as in this case, all three.

I can't decide what kimono fabric to line this bag with. The embroidered design has touches of lovely earthy browns and greens, but then I think a fabulous floral blue would look really pretty too.

And then I have to choose a handle. I've since decided against the curved, it's a great repurposed one, but a little difficult to attach to this fabric.

No wonder it takes me so long to make a bag!

Yeah tell me about it. Sometimes I have that dilemma too! I like the top left. I like how the branches kinda connects and flows into the squigly lines on the other fabric. It just draws the eye to it. ^_^

I have that same problem when I'm matching fabrics. I wander around all the piles for at least half an hour until I find the perfect combination.

For what it's worth I'm with Theresa, I like the top left one too. It's going to be a gorgeous bag.

I have this problem ALL the time. It's agony. I like the bottom left, I think - can't really see it much. And the middle square handles. It's going to be lovely!

I can totally relate to your feelings. I would be nervous cutting up such beautiful fabric, but when I think of the finished product, well then that's going to be even more beautiful. Will you give us a look when you've finished? Will you be selling this at the market?

Oh I do share your fear...it is that trepidation for a few seconds before cutting into the fabric. I am a great believer in the old adage measure twice cut once and at school I try to drum into the kids that they should cut pieces from the edges of the fabric not the middle - which they insist on doing- and it drives me crazy as it is so wasteful! I made a wedding dress for a friend once and the bodice was made with $170/m embroidered imported Japanese brocade I can tell you I was scared to start on that one!
