Market Day

Last Sunday I shared a stall at the Young Designer's Market at Southbank Brisbane with my cousin. I'm happy to say, it was a really good day. Just after setting up we were hit by a very sudden, very unexpected storm, but as quickly as it came, it cleared and we were left with a beautiful day.

As most of my wares were so bright and colourful, I thought I'd go for a bit of a sweet shop/cake shop theme. I covered a cupcake stand in Japanese paper to display my glass pendants.

I was pleased with how the kimono button rings looked on my Moo cards.

The kimono button hair slides went on Moo cards as well and were in little Japanese dishes.

I wasn't quite sure how my crazy freestyle stitch on my Kimono Bubbles cards would be received so was happy to have positive feedback and a number of them sell.

I really do need to work on displaying my Obi bags, they looked a little limp just sitting on the table.

I'm happy to say that not only did sales go well but it I had a lot of fun chatting to many different people, spotting fashions and hanging out with my cousin. Rebecca popped by and I got to admire her gorgeous little fox brooch in person. Katie also had a stall there on the day and I could resist purchasing an adorable baby singlet with a caterpillar design from her. I got to meet Thea as well as Nicole from Hot Toffee. It's wonderful to know that Brisbane has such friendly talented people around.
One of my post baby birth projects will be to get my Danielle's work online. Her jewellery is made of ceramic and she's influenced by both Japanese and retro designs.

Some of her sweet little hair slides with kimono fabric on either felt or ceramic.

Her rings were a real hit on the day. I just loved the plane inside the butterfly shape.

I think I may be ordering some of her fishy dog tags for Christmas.
While I'll be taking a couple of months off from the markets as I settle into my new role as a mummy, Danielle with continue at the markets and will kindly be taking some of my stock. I hope, come October, I'll be back there behind the stall and enjoying the day there again.

Stunning display! Now I'm jealous I'm not closer so I could have dropped by.
