I have the book (back in Australia) as well. Each chapter begins with a recipe, food that I long to cook one day.
Here's a bit of a taste (pardon the pun) of the movie in its original Spanish. A bit of a warning, vegetarians may not want to watch parts of this...
I've always had the benefit of subtitles when viewing it, but couldn't find any on Youtube, but you can see the same scene dubbed in English, this time a little longer and with nudity here.
I really do miss being able to watch foreign films, I can't get the English subtitles at the movies and on DVDs here. I'll be feasting on them when I return to Australia.
Another couple of my favourites are Amelie (and oh how I want her hair!)....
... and Delicatessen
Thank you to Hokey for this week's theme to Angela, the fabulous hostess of This is...

Melanie,
I just love 'Amelie'. That sippet from youtube has got me hanging out to see it again.
i loved the book but have never seen 'Like Water for chocolate' on the big screen...a must do!!
i think 'Amelie' is on everyone's list - its SO good!!
You have great taste in movies!
Ohhhh - I love ALL of those films. THe only one I didn't seeon the big screeen was Amelie. If I ever get the chance to go to a cinema again (haven't for the last three years!!) I'll try to catch it at an indie cinema. All visual feasts!
Oh I love those movies too!!! I simply adore Amelie as I love the setting and how little things matter in there! Delicatessen was fantastic too!!! I would always watch them over and over again just to discover something new each time!!! ^_^
Amelie is my all time favourite movie. I have never seen the other two your list. Will have to make an effort to see them at some stage.
I loved the book like water for chocolate but I neve knew it had been made into a movie... I'll have to look for it.
Ah yes, Delicatessen, that was a fav. And I loved Like Water for Chocolate too!
Oh how I cried, when I watched "Like Water for Chocolate"..I had read the book, but the movie I watched whilst flying back from Europe and had just broken up with my boyfriend..it was beautiful and definitely no regrets with the breakup! Amelie and Delicatessen are both fantastic choices as well!...
