This is... my Favourite Kitchen Tool

... in my tiny Japanese kitchen...

... my husband! I like to pretend that I CAN'T cook, but that's actually a lie. It's just that for the last few years, I've hated cooking. I'm not exactly sure why, it started around the time that my food allergies kicked in, so that may have something to do with it.

I will go back to cooking one day. Actually, that's one thing that I'm really looking forward to about moving back to Australia, having a decent sized kitchen and having an oven! Ohh... how I've missed having an oven.

But in the meantime, it's been my wonderful dh that has done all the cooking. Many mornings he even makes my lunch for me to take to school. On weekends he'll cook breakfast and bring it to me in bed if I so desire. He does the grocery shopping and while I've been sick for the last year and now that I'm slowly coming to terms that I may not ever get back to how I was before getting sick, he has even picked up my slack with the cleaning.

So, how could I not choose him as my favourite "gadget".

Thank you to Sharon for guest hosting while Angela settles back in from her holiday.

Now I have read this, I see that I need to send my current gadget back. He's clearly missing some features or broken!!

My gadget's flipper arm is busy holding screwdrivers right now.....building new cupboards and drawers .. totally re-doing our laundry room. I'm baking bread and muffins ... a fair trade today I guess.

LOL! Well, he's a cutie. Love the apron! I'm so glad he loves taking care of you. That makes me smile all over.

It must be hard to not have an oven!

Yippee for men in the kitchen. Is he available to rent out for dinner parties once you get back to Aus?

What a great photo - and I'm so glad to hear you have such a lovely kitchen gadget looking after you :) I have a similar one who cooks me breakfast (and dinner) and makes sure I don't forget to have lunch each day - they are certainly a handy thing to have aren't they. You have reminded me to be appreciative - I think sometimes I take mine for granted...

I know what you mean about those teeny weeny Japanese kitchen! I could not wait to get back to Aust to have an oven again. I got so desperate in Kyoto that I worked out how to bake a cake in my rice cooker! You will not know yourself when you get home. And the cheese my friend, the cheese options here are heaven. Oooops hope that's not one of your allergies.

What a lovely post about your dh.

I can't believe you don't have an oven. That must be so strange.

that is one excellent gadget! I have no oven either right now. well, i have one, but the internal thermometer makes it not heat up past about 100 degrees. it's stinks, because i love love love to bake, and am not very fond of cooking.

no oven? not even one of these little ones?

when i was a student we had a grill/oven in the tiny kitchen, it was really small, but you could make lasagne, small pizzas, pasta bakes, cookies, small cakes (i had children's baking tins!)... it was so worth it.

but you're just as well off, at this point, to hold out till you're back in australia, and then have a real oven... and a long list of recipes to try out!!

PS my brilliant husband has taken over all the cooking for several months when i got pregnant! i just did not care for food any more, i mean real food...
