Be Nice To Melanie Day and Making Babies
I'm declaring today official "Be nice to Melanie Day". Things didn't go well with my sister's visit and I'm now left feeling sad, frustrated, hurt and disappointed. I'm going to hide under a rock for a few days and cry. I don't understand why, at the age of 35, I'm still scared of and am seeking approval from my big sister. Wayne is being wonderful, giving me lots of cuddles. On a more fun note, I've been making babies! Nooo.... not that! Online, playing with a baby making gadget thingy. I'm not sure it's the best idea though, seeing the possible results of our child is a bit scary. It might put me off. Here's what apparently we could get.You can see it moving around and talking and play with the function here.

So sorry to hear things didn't go so well with your sister's visit. Visits from my Mum often end that way so I totally understand. On a brighter note, that is a cute baby!! Love the eyes!
family....sigh..... so many of us go through exactly the same things or worse. Try not to beat yourself up too badly Melanie.
Every time I leave my sister's place it takes me a week to rant and rave and get it out of my system... her husband and kids are a big part of the problem.. lazy, lazy, lazy.. they make me crazy because she still tries to pick up all the slack even though she was injured in a fall 6 years ago and sustained a brain injury. I could cheerfully throttle them all so she could have some peace! But.. last time I was there...even she was picking arguments with me because she has weaned herself off all the meds she has been on since the injury...and she seemed argumentative and belligerent ...oh, well, we write lots of emails..that will have to be good enough.
Oh Melanie, I hope you're ok. It's very difficult to spend so much time with siblings at this age...they can drive you crazy!
Look after yourself and have a nice cup of tea.
Oh no Mel. What happened with Rachel? It sounds like her visit didn't end up being what you had hoped for especially as you were really looking forward to her visit.
Take care of yourself and get lots of cuddles from that wonderful husband of yours. Joanie
The families we are born with are often so complicated. Thank goodness we get to make our "families of choice" to keep us sane. I'm sending you lots of cheery vibes. I hope you feel better soon.
Hugs to you...these things happen, dont be so hard on yourself, she's probably feeling just as sad...hugs!
Really sorry to hear about your sister. Mine hasn't spoken to me for 5 years! I miss her dreadfully for the good times, and not so much for the bad. She's had 2 babies since then and I miss knowing them most of all. x Hope you feel better soon. Your Kimono outfit pics/post were FAB!!
Hope you are feeling better. Looks like you are having fun making babies!
I don't think anyone can hurt us as much as our siblings can. They know all the soft spots, the old scars.... I know all about it!!! (I have SEVEN siblings!!). Families are complicated. Big hug to you!
Melanie, I'm so sorry to hear the visit with your sister didn't go well. Try not to be so hard on yourself. Sometimes we build up things in our minds so much, like the anticipation of your sister's visit, that the reality pales in comparison. Please don't hide under a rock and cry!
Cute baby.
Yes, yes and yes to all the above comments. Families are complicated and no one has it easy... Sending lots of thoughts and hugs your way - this feeling will pass.
oh dear, that's so disappointing that things didn't go too well with your sister - especially since you were so excited about her visit. I hope you start to cheer up soon and just remember; you don't need anyone's approval :)
Oh boy. I sooo understand the sibling relationships with sisters...I have three of them and love them dearly but sometimes these things happens as family dynamics do...just ensure that next time you catch up with her wether over teh phone or in person - you can have at best a laugh at the situation.. injecting humour helps dissolve these awkward and unsatisfying moments..don't think about it too much..you've got lots of amazing things your doing anyway!!!
Why is it that we feel the most vulnerable when it comes to family? No matter what, just know that I think you are fabulous, intelligent, gorgeous, and one of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.
I'm an only child so I really can't imagine, but stay under your rock till you feel it's safe and know you have a lot of sisters here who love you Just The Way You Are. And support your hopes and dreams too.
Families of choice ..you've got it BigCat.
Sad to hear your time with your sister didn't go as well as you hoped.....
