Love Fridays, a day late

Yesterday was a bit of an odd day, the end of an odd and somewhat disturbing week (I'm fine, but sadly can't say the same for someone else I know). But there were certainly some good parts to the day.

I had the day off. The students were preparing for the school festival which starts tomorrow, so classes were cancelled.

I went to buy a dome tent for photographing small items and discovered that I had enough points on my store card to purchase it without handing over any cash!

I got to see a friend's new apartment that I've been hearing a lot about since he moved in and started decorating. It's very impressive with an amazing view of the Nagoya skyline and his Hello Kitty toilet paper made me laugh.

While in the big city, I visited the import food store and picked up some exciting foods that I haven't had for a while. They included feta cheese, some Australian biscuits, Australian chocolate and scones.

I had a lovely dinner with hubby at our favourite Mexican restaurant. Due to busy lives and the week's unusual happenings, it was the first time all week that he and I had sat down to a relaxing dinner.

Thanks to Big Cat for the Friday love.

Melanie, I'm sorry you've had a rough week, but it sounds like it's picking up!
Hope your weekend is relaxing with lots of time to spend with your husband.

Dinner with the hubby sounds lovely. We've been trying to organise a kid-free dinner for weeks now, but with general business, then all of us being ill for 2 weeks, it still hasn't happened. I will try again for next weekend though. Hope you're having a lovely weekend now :)
Cheers, Bec

I really like the idea of Hello Kitty toilet paper. Although it might feel to precious to use!

Difficult events aside, it sounds like a good Friday. How exciting that you got a dome tent with your points! Dinner with the hub is always a good thing. I wonder what Mexican food is like in Japan?? :-)

Purchases are always so much sweeter when made with loyalty points!

I like the sound of the Hello Kitty t/p. That's hilarious.

sorry to hear about the disturbing week...how cool to find fetta cheese in Japan! is there Japanese cheese or just soy cheese?
what about Tim tams - do they have those or are you craving?

Hi AnastasiaC

I couldn't reply to your comment, so am doing it here.

I can get fetta every now and then, but it is expensive. We can get normal cheese as well, but there isn't a great range and the imported stuff isn't cheap. I've never seen soy cheese over here. Actually, Japanese don't use as much soy as people in the west are lead to believe. I haven't seen soy milk here either. The soy here is mainly blocks of tofu, soy sauce, miso and steamed soy beans. Other than miso soup, not really for everyday consumption.

Luckily - yes I can get Timtams here! Believe me, I'm happy about that!
