Oh how I love a good period drama... the costumes, the scenery, the heartbreaking romance...
When I'm working I have some tasks that are quite repetitive. I can easily sit for an eight hour day cutting out tiny circles of fabric for my pendants, to then follow it with another half day of setting the fabric into silver bases before preserving it under resin. During those times, my dvd collection gets quite a workout.
On regular repeats are anything by Jane Austen, Little Dorrit, The Tudors, Bright Star and Tess of the D'Urbervilles. There are a few in the trailer above that I haven't seen before and should check out.
How about you? Are you a costume drama fan? Any you recommend?
Cranford and Lark Rise to Candleford are a bit slow but great acting talent, Judy Dench et al.
ReplyDeleteForgot to say, I'm into talking books while I paint, have recently discovered some good 'Bodice rippers'!
ReplyDeleteOh yes! I quite enjoy background noise and visuals while I work. I have been known to have Pride & Prejudice playing, also Charmed series, and on occasion the V Mars series.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! I love them. Looks like I have some catching up to do though, been too busy knitting :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the Jane Austen movies, especially the Pride and Prejudice movie with Keira Knightley and the Sense and Sensibility one with Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet.
ReplyDeleteOn contemporary movies, Lost in Austen (2008) is nice, and Bridget Jones. =)
Such a great video!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen any of these but I'll sure be looking out for them now.
Hope you now have seen Downtown Abbey, it is very very VERY good.
