Stunning Dress using a Tomesode Kimono

Another gorgeous dress using a tomesode kimono. This one is by Tsubakiya. I found her work on:
We have just started buying some tomesode for our eBay store and the first one arrived the other day. I hope to photograph it this weekend and put it up on the store. Keep your eyes peeled for it on:

Patchwork Cosmetic Bag from old Kimono Pieces

OK, I can't seem to get enough of Sai So's work. This is a bag by them, often used as a cosmetic bag. It combines nappa leather with the fine kimono silk.

More from Sai So

Some more of Sai So's stunning work using old kimonos. I believe the top one may have used an uchikake, a wedding kimono and the bottom one a tomesode. I found these images on:

Mel and I are now in the middle of buying a lot of new stock. We are starting to look at the larger items including some furisode, tomesode and uchikake kimonos. We hope to be putting them in the store soon. Keep an eye out for them at:

I have also had some fun buying some pieces for myself to play with. I have to confess, I'm not the best seamstress, but have been lucky enough to hear of a local dressmaker that specialises in "Kimono Reform". I will visit her soon and get some dresses made up. Once I have them, I'll put them up on the site for you to see.

In the meantime, happy "reforming"!

Kimono Fabric Lampshade

I saw this lamp on the net the other day. It's stunning shade is made from old kimono fabric.
You can find it and some other products on:

It's the label "Sai So" which means "reconstucted". The company's history and concept is interesting. You can find out more about them on:
